Greetings!

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer 6 and earlier can't read feeds all by themselves. BUT there are workarounds, so read on!

What's a Web Feed?

Web feeds outside site let you get updated content immediately. That means that when I post a new (particulary original) article, you'll get it right away in your feed reader.

Cool! How Do I Add a Feed?

1. Use a free feed reader. These are easy to get and use, and there are lots to choose from! Many people use feed readers instead of having their browser manage the feeds anyways.

The most popular free feed readers are probably Google (which will let you add your feeds to your personalized home page by clicking this link), bloglines, and Yahoo! You can even add feeds to your mobile phone with readers like hub::mobile and plusmo (see the last column on the right below). If you need more information, here's a discussion of various readers.

2. Upgrade to IE7. (*cough*GetFirefox!*cough* — see #3 below)

3. Try the Mozilla web browser: Firefox (for the PC) or Camino (for the Mac). I know, if you wanted a different browser, you'd upgrade your Internet Explorer, but Firefox has a lot of advantages that make the switch worthwhile.

Get Firefox Get Camino!

In fact, almost half of all online users have switched over to Firefox/Camino from IE. First, because it is up-to-date on the latest web technologies, it reads web pages better and is more likely to show you exactly what the creator intended you to see. (Archetype is optimized for IE, so it won't look much different, but some sites will.) It's also more secure than IE and has some great add-ons so you can change the way your browser looks and add all kinds of great functionality. You can use a tool to add feeds. And finally, IE 7 is based on Firefox design, so the learning curve will be the same as upgrading to IE 7.
